With human life expectancy on the rise and more and more single-member households in the developed countries the pet industry can be happy. In the US, the total pet industry expenditures reached $ 60.59 billion in 2015 (APPA). In Europe, the pet food industry represents an annual turnover of € 30 billion -15 billion in sales of pet foods and another 15 billion in services such as pet accessories, breeders , veterinarians etc..-(FEDIA). It is estimated that more than 75 million European households are owning at least one pet animal -Cats 24% and Dogs 21%-. It is also remarkable that expenditures on care and on food of domestic animals continued to grow even during the last economic crisis. This industry has a growth target of 4.5% for 2016 which is quite impressive in the current economic environment. The pet is nowadays considered as a member of the family. It is good for the people and it is also good for business!
