Switzerland: Land of Innovation
The Global Innovation Index 2014 ( GII ) recognizes innovation as a key driver of economic growth throughout the world. And Switzerland is truly a land of innovation, far away from the usual clichés. Innovation is a crucial factor in the growth of economy which means job creation, in large or small companies. The GII ranks the innovation permormance of 143 countries. This ranking takes into account the innovation capabilities but also the measurable results in the analysed countries. Here is the top ten 2014 ranking: 1.Switzerland. 2.UK. 3.Sweden. 4.Finland. 5.Netherlands. 6.USA. 7.Singapore. 8.Denmark. 9.Luxembourg.10.Hong-Kong(China). It is interesting to note that Switzerland remains the leader for the fourth consecutive year! The GII leaders all have in common creative teams which receive substantial and sustained funding, strong innovation infrastructures, business sophistication and high level communication technologies. In that context, human capital in the innovation process develops most successfully in Switzerland. And this country far outstripped its closest competitors. Finally, Switzerland can also count on its legendary pragmatism. It should keep its leading role in this area of innovation at least in the coming years.
