A few Facts and Figures about Health in Europe
The Eurostat report 2015 about quality of life of people in the EU provides very interesting data. Let us talk briefly about health, which is a core issue. More than two thirds of EU residents (67.7%) perceived their health as being good or very good. On average, Spanish, Italian and French lived longer than all other residents, with a life expectancy at birth exceeding 82 years in 2013. By contrast, Lithuanians, Latvians, and Bulgarians were likely to live on average less than 75 years. But it is also worth pointing out that the life expectancy rose by 1.7 years in Sweden and more spectacular by 5.6 years in Estonia during the period 2005-2013. Better sanitation and living conditions, an increasing access to healthcare services are key factor for a population who wants to enjoy better health. As a result, almost 7 out of 10 EU residents reported that they were in a good health condition. And finally, new scientific developments will further improve the health situation in Europe.
