The time for Rearmament has come

It cannot be disputed that military spending is at its highest since the Cold War. This is also true for Europe. "We don't want war but we have to prepare for it". It is a talk that spreads fast in democratic countries around the world. This record increase in military spending was obviously boosted by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but not only. It is also the consequence of growing tensions in East Asia between China and the US. It should be noted that in 2022 the United States accounted for 39% of global arms spending, followed by China with 13%, Russia with 3.9% and India 3.6% (Re.SIPRI).Pt Putin's speech is to say that everything that happens today to Russia is the fault of Westerners but also of his predecessors Yeltsin and Gorbachev. And since lies and approximations do not frighten him, he says that if he is fighting Ukraine it is mainly because it is his duty to fight not only NATO but also all of decadent Western civilization. And it is also necessary to emphasize that today a majority of Russians support their President and therefore are for the war. That's why, and taking into account a very instable and dangerous international context, Europeans should not rely solely on the support of the United States. Europeans must substantially increase their rearmament effort. And that's what they are doing, with the support of a large part of their public opinion.
