Preserving the Good Health of our Oceans must become an absolute Priority

Covering 70% of the Earth's surface the ocean produces over half of the world's oxygen and absorbs about 50 times more carbon dioxide than our atmosphere (Re.NOAA). It must be immediately underlined that 80% of the ocean's pollution comes from the land and is in fact the result of human activity. This pollution comes in particular from truck and car traffic, the farming of agricultural land and from untreated industrial effluent. Hundreds of thousands plastic bottles end up each year in the ocean. To this must be added millions of plastic bags and of beverage cans made of metal. China and Indonesia are among the main players causing this pollution (Re.Jambeck Univ.of Georgia). The Mediterranean is probably the most polluted ocean in the world (Re.UNEP). The South Pacific and the South Atlantic are considered to be the less polluted (Re.World Atlas). It must also be remembered that the ocean regulates the Earth climate and is a vital food source for more than a Billion people. It must be added that more than 60% of the world's population is living on the coastline. Let us always keep in mind the ocean's essential role for the survival of our Planet. So we must fight every step of the way.
