Which countries are at risk of being significantly impacted by climate change ? According to leading experts, these are the bottom-10 of 180 countries which are very seriously at risk (Re.Oxfam): Chad-Central African Republic- Eritrea-Democratic Republic of Congo- Sudan-Guinea Bissau- Afghanistan- Mali- Sierra Leone- Madagascar. This list of countries which includes many African states should not hide the fact that climate change is also causing significant damage in other regions of the planet such as Great Britain or the USA. Remember that the erosion of the British coastlines is forcing many people to leave their homes. Let us also remember that the forest fires in California caused enormous damage, not to mention the human victims. It is also important to mention the Climate Risk Index 2025 (CRI). This index ranks countries by the human and economic toll of extreme weather. And in short "from 1993 to 2022, more than 765,000 lives were lost and direct economic losses of nearly USD 4.2 trillion were recorded, driven by more than 9,400 extreme weather events" (Re. Germanwatch). Finally, it should be emphasized , as this is little known, that Europe is warming faster than the rest of the world (Re: Mterre). So far, we can only observe that this brief overview of the global climate situation does not give cause for optimism.
